About & methodology

A free, public directory for discovering U.S. medical research funding — and seeing where it comes from.

Not a government website and not a funder. Open Grant does not administer funding, accept applications, or represent any agency or foundation. Every application is completed on the original sponsor's official website.

Who this is for

Four groups, each with a different question. If you are in one of them, here is the task this site is built to finish.

Every one of those tasks is free and needs no account; saving grants, tracking applications, and matching need one (free). What the site does not do is decide whether you are eligible: each opportunity shows a “Can I apply?” summary read from the sponsor's own announcement, and the sponsor's page is always the authority.

Where the data comes from

We aggregate information only from authoritative, verifiable public funding portals:

How to use this site responsibly

Data integrity

Open Grant is read-only — it never alters source records. If the live data service is briefly down, it serves the most recent verified snapshot.

Live data status

That is a claim, so here is the evidence — read from the running server as this page loads: which feed answered, how long ago, what it fell back to, and the rules behind every figure.
