Terms of Use

Last updated 10 September 2026. Plain language, because you should be able to read this in three minutes and know what you agreed to.

Not a government website and not a funder. Open Grant is a directory. It does not administer funding, accept applications, or represent any agency or foundation. Every application is made on the sponsor's own website, and the sponsor's page is the authority on eligibility, amounts, and deadlines.

What you can expect from us

What we cannot promise

The directory is provided as it is. Funding information changes between refreshes, sponsors edit and withdraw calls, and no aggregation is ever complete or perfectly current. So:

Your account

What you upload stays yours

The description you paste, the profile you build, and the documents you upload remain yours. You give us permission to store them and show them back to you, and nothing more: they are not published, not shown to other users, and not used to train anything. Matching runs in your browser, not on our server.

Do not upload material you have no right to share — another person's unpublished work, confidential institutional documents, or anything containing someone else's personal data.

Fair use of the service

Other people's material

Grant titles, descriptions, and award records belong to the agencies and foundations that published them, and are shown here to help you find the original. If you hold rights in something on this site and want it removed, tell us and we will take it down while we look.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. If a change materially affects account holders, we will say so by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the site after that is how you accept the new version.

Reaching us

Questions about these terms, a takedown request, or anything else that needs a human: privacy@theopengrant.com. We answer account and privacy requests first.

See also the Privacy Policy, which covers what we store and why.
